Basic Information and Childhood
Now let’s move on to the character who made me the biggest PJO fan in the world: Luke Castellan. Oh man, I just can’t help but swoon over this guy. Note: I’m only talking about the book character (and perhaps Jake Abel in his role as Luke) and not the TV series.
And no, I have NOT written any fanfics about Luke Castellan (Oh yes, I have, and they turned out to be really embarrassing).
And I’m telling you, anyone who knows Luke’s backstory will be doomed forever to weep over his fate and his past.
He was born in Westport, Connecticut, and his parents are Hermes and May Castellan. For a year, he lived the life we demigods have always longed for: a life with a complete, loving family. The history of this family goes back so far that May wanted to host the Oracle of Delphi.
Well, since no one knew about Hades’ curse, she was cursed and had to foresee her son’s tragic future, which subsequently drove her mad.
At some point, Luke couldn’t take it any longer. At just nine years old, he ran away from home. He was afraid of his deranged mother. For years, he travelled alone… and unhappily, having placed his hope and trust in the wrong people.
It was only when he met Thalia Grace that he knew who he could trust. Together they embarked on all manner of adventures and eventually came across little Annabeth Chase. With several troubles, they had reached Camp Halfblood.
Among the people, he was considered one of the best fighters and has even trained younger demigods such as Percy Jackson.
However, his true strength does not lie solely in combat.
Luke is known for being intelligent, strategic and extremely skilled at manipulating others. It really does seem as though he has studied his opponents in minute detail. This made him particularly dangerous, especially after he turned against the Olympians.
He himself is his greatest challenge. The deep anger and disappointment he harboured within himself, particularly towards his father and his divine relatives. Like his demigod followers, he had felt let down, which had always gnawed at him from within.
Kronos had exploited this, but what he hadn’t considered was that, deep down, Luke still had a good heart, and in the end, he had made the right decision.

The abilities and challenges of Luke Castellan
Although Luke is not a child of the Big Three, he is nonetheless one of the most talented demigods Camp Half-Blood has ever seen. As the son of Hermes alone, he possessed extraordinary speed, agility and, above all, incredible skills in sword fighting.Among the people, he was considered one of the best fighters and has even trained younger demigods such as Percy Jackson.
However, his true strength does not lie solely in combat.
