Frank is kind and friendly, earning him a soft reputation, but however contains a lot of inner rage as a child of Mars and his difficult past. This can be seen in his outbursts, like when he pins a minor god to a wall for not healing people fast enough.
Frank has grown up with peer pressure from his grandmother and at school concerning his body, causing him to develop low self-esteem and prevalent self-hatred. This had an impact on his life, but he eventually overcame these issues in the books. His self-esteem was also afflicted by the problem of his lifeline, and caused him to fear fire- again, this is overcome in the books. He becomes a strong leader and more confident in his appearance.
Frank Zhang has all the powers of a child of Mars, plus abilities from the legacy of Periclymenus which ties him to the line of Poseidon.
Frank had originally hoped to be a child of Apollo, given his skill with a bow, and was less than happy when he wasn’t.
He was deemed too powerful, with demigodly abilities and shapeshifting, so Juno placed a curse on him that if a certain piece of wood burned out completely he would die- while he nearly did, when he burned it in order to kill Caligula and seriously injure Commodus, by taking his fate in his hands and possibly by divine intervention he lived on at the temporary cost of his eyebrows. This curse reflects that of Meleager, with a happier ending.
Frank is something of an exception among demigods, in that he does not have ADHD or dyslexia but instead had lactose intolerance- which he says is unfortunate as he like ice cream. Frank has a habit of reading travel brochures.
