Ogygia

Description of Ogygia

Pronunciation: oh-JIJ-ee-uh or oh-JID-jee-uh
Residents: Calypso
Special Feature: Moonlace can be found here

Ogygia is known for being a phantom island that exists everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
Wherever you look, the beaches are pristine, and groves of cypress trees frame the gentle, grass-covered hills. There is not a soul in sight to disturb you. Peace and quiet – that is what one often longs for when escaping the big city.
Yet for the nymph Calypso, daughter of the Titan Atlas, this island serves as a kind of magical prison, simply because she is the Titan’s daughter.
Calypso created this paradise herself, and Ogygia is the only place where Moonlace can be found. There are invisible servants who take care of daily life on the island.

Special property of Ogygia

As soon as you set foot on the island of Ogygia, your sense of time becomes distorted, almost as if you were in the Lotus Casino. If you ever find yourself on the island, it might feel like an hour has passed, but in reality a week has already gone by in the real world. Visitors often have no idea how long they have actually been away.
It is extremely difficult to reach Ogygia; it is almost impossible. No one can find the island twice. Odysseus failed to do so, even though he had developed an astrolabe.

Only Leo Valdez managed to locate the island using the device. Navigation on the island, however, is fundamentally disrupted. If you have a compass on the island, it spins uncontrollably round and round, and we needn’t even mention modern technology. That simply fails.

Should Calypso fall in love with a hero, the demigods are given a magical raft with which they can leave the island and are safely taken to their desired destination. Due to the curse, the nymph is bound to the island and can only flee it after defeating Gaia. However, she loses her immortality and a large part of her powers.
