Bastet
Bast (Bastet or Ubasti)
Bast is the Goddess of Felines in Egyptian Mythology and the daughter of Ra and Neith. She can charm animals, heal, and use banishment, sending someone far away. She can also possess cats and speak through them.
Bast is often depicted as a tall woman with a feline head, typically a lion. She has medium-length black hair, and in her mortal form, she wears leopard-print clothes. She is loving, playful, and protective, like a cat.
In mythology, Bastet was bound to Apophis by her father when he left Earth and went back to the sky. The two were eternally bound to each other in hopes that Apophis would be destroyed one day. Bast saw this as a great honor. Speaking of honor, did you know that Bast could transform into a twenty-foot-tall woman with a lion for a head? Scary. She can also use the dust to travel in the desert, which is a pretty interesting ability in my opinion. Another great ability she has is banishment. I always thought this ability was pretty funny to use.
Bast was called the "Eye of Ra" because she apparently was a fiery counterpart to the sun god. Who would of thought of that. I suppose the name also comes with a tone of being Ra's eyes on the mortal world of sorts. The name Eye of Ra is actually shared between two figures in Egyptian Mythology, Bastet and Sekhmet, along with a few others. So it's a pretty interesting fact that all of these gods are associated with that name and also tied to Ra in some way.

Brief History
The Goddess of Felines was born from Ra (father) and Neith (mother), and she was named Bastet, or Bast for short. Her duty in Egyptian Mythology was to be a fierce warrior while also being a gentle guardian for the family and kids. It is said that any home that had cat imagery was protected by Bastet, and she would protect the residents of that home.In mythology, Bastet was bound to Apophis by her father when he left Earth and went back to the sky. Trivia
- If it wasn’t obvious, Bast acts like a cat. It seems self-explanatory to me because of the whole “Goddess of Felions” and all.
- Did you know, Bastet can possess cats and talk through them.
- Fun fact, Ra replaced Sekhmet as his companion with Bastet because he found Sekhmet to be too unruly a goddess.
