This is Magical Mythology
with Ebony Hance
Hello there and welcome to "Magical Mythology".
Your one stop blog with all the necessary facts, quizzes and lore you need, to scratch that Percy Jackson itch! If you love Percy Jackson and are passionate about Greek mythology, you've come to the right place!
Well now that you've been well informed all about Half Blood is and how it came to be I feel that it is only fitting that I give you a sneak peek into what a typical day at Camp can look like. Keep in mind that this is Camp Half Blood of course therefore even a normal day is never quite ordinary. I mean come on... we're a bunch of Half Blood kids with special abilities. Do you really think that this is just going to be some ordinary camp? Although it may look suspiciously normal when you first see it as a newcomer, Camp Half Blood is anything but a typical day at Camp half blood may look like this:
8:00AM : Cabin inspections, followed by breaking in the dining pavilion.
Meals at Camp Half-blood are served at long tables with campers sit with their cabin mates. The food is magically served by Nymphs and each camper has to give a burnt offering to the gods during every meal to appease them.
After breakfastat 9:00AM, classes begin. I personally used to take combat training class at this time of the day, while I still had a lot of energy and was more alert.
From 10:00AM till 11:00am you will most likely attend an archery class with Chiron (he's the camp founder i keep telling you about) Complete with real arrows of course. (NO you can not shoot an apple off your sibling's head)
From 11am till 1:00pm you may even take one of my absolute favorite classes... Winged horse back riding! We are lucky enough to have the most majestic Pegasus stabled at camp that we ride. I love to help out in their stables with grooming and mucking out their stalls and putting out fresh food and bedding...but getting to ride them? Now that is a real treat! During a class you will most likely spend the first hour out on a trail ride, followed by a picnic lunch in a little woodland glade or wherever you stop. This will most likely be followed by an hour of aerial combat practice, once your skills improve enough. I mean hey. Gotta know how to protect yourself in the sky too right?
From 1pm to 2pm you will find yourself back at the dining pavilion for lunch. All the food at camp half blood is amazing and you can literally eat anything that you can dream of! I personally love the pizza and BBQ, so be sure to try it out!
From 2:00pm until 4:00pm you have what is called class electives. Basically this means that you get to choose the classes that you take during this period of time. We have a whole list of awesome classes to take. From Drama and theatrics, to music, to Monsters 101 and medical training, there is definitely no shortage of classes to keep you entertained.
One of my personal favorite classes is Arts and crafts. It is such a fun way to express your creativity. I have made a whole heap of fun crafts at camp over the years I've been here and some of my clay pots and handmade wind chimes and dream catchers, adorn my corner of the Zeus cabin. Of course arts and crafts are very therapeutic too and a wonderful way to relax.
From 4:00pm till 6:00pm, you help to pack away activities, followed by some free time to do as you please. I personally like sitting around drawing or painting or sitting and chatting to my friends. A game of volleyball or a walk through the strawberry fields or along the shore of the fireworks beach gathering sea shells is fun too!
From 6:00pm till 7:00pm you have dinner in the dining pavilion once again and when you have had your fill (and have remembered to give a burnt offering to your Godly parent of course,) you will get to experience one of my favorite things about camp.
From 7:00pm until 10:00pm, we have our camp bonfire. I love to sit around the campfire listening to campfire stories and singing songs with everyone. Oh and of course roasting marshmallows too, because what is a bonfire without a few camp fire treats?
At 10:00pm we all start making our way back to our cabins and getting ready for bed. Lights out is around 11:00pm. It is sometimes pretty tricky to get enough sleep in a cabin full of chatting siblings, but its fun to whisper late into the night with one another and share midnight snacks. Its basically like one big sleepover, although we do our best to get the rest we need. It's not just the kids of Aphrodite that need their beauty sleep after all!
After a long eventful day and a good night's rest, we get to wake up the next day and do it all over again! It is a whole lot of fun! Trust me, this is one camp that you are garuenteed to love being a camper at!
On that note, if you suspect that you are one of us, I highly encourage you to make your way to camp. We here at Camp Half-Blood will be waiting with open arms.
Looking forward to seeing you all at camp! Safe travels and may the gods guide your path.
Until next time,
Ebony Mae Hance.
A daughter of Zeus.
