This is Magical Mythology
with Ebony Hance
Hello there and welcome to "Magical Mythology".
Your one stop blog with all the necessary facts, quizzes and lore you need, to scratch that Percy Jackson itch! If you love Percy Jackson and are passionate about Greek mythology, you've come to the right place!
Last letter my question to you all was have you ever been on a monster quest and what your least favorite monster to come across is. Everyone had some very interesting things to say. Almost every single camper pointed out that while we will all indefinitely stumble across monsters at some point or another, if it can be avoided it is definitely the better way to go!
However, William Rosvienne a Son of Demeter also rightly pointed out, that interestingly enough, sometimes its the "normal" creatures that mortals interact with daily that can turn out to be just as much of monsters as the ones that hunt us down.
This week I thought it would be fun for me to give you some pointers about coming to camp halfblood and packing (if you're lucky enough to have the time to pack) for your trip here. You know...seems as if you're reading this you're most likely going to be joining us shortly.
Okay so here it is, a campers guide to packing for camp Half-blood one - o - one!
1) Do not bring or use electronics at camp under any circumstances! If you want to avoid being monster bait, then unless you're using a camp approved device, then leave the mortal technology far behind!
2) If you are lucky enough to be escorted to camp by a satyr, while it can be a little bit astonishing at first, once you get over the initial shock of their appearance, you are in very good hands! Satyrs are excellent guides and navigators!
3) you may want to pack some shin guards to put under your armor. Capture the flag and combat practice can get a bit...enthusiastic.
4) if you're a musician then definitely bring your musical instruments with you! Be prepared to sing lots of fun camp songs around the bonfire! Oh and if you're an aspiring writer your storytelling skills will be put to good use too! We sure do love a good story!
5) if you want to get into the food books of the Pegasus, then be sure to bring some apples and carrots or sugar cubes with you! They always appreciate a sweet treat!
6) if you're an animal lover you're allowed to bring your pet to camp too! I have a whole menagerie of creatures myself. Apologies in advance if you find out that you're my sibling and have to share the Zeus cabin with my little zoo! They love to cuddle though if that helps!
7) Be prepared to meet more siblings than you ever thought was possible to have. You thought you were an only child huh? Well...your godly parent solved that problem!
8) speaking of siblings, no, you cant lock them on the cabin if they annoy you...however...there's no rules saying that you cant have a prank war! Hint hint..
9) Be prepared to share your food. If you're a foodie like me, this one can be tough because our godly parents always want a share of anything we eat as an offering...and all the best bits too. Be sure to bring extra snacks and treats with you too so you always have enough!
10) and finally, coming to camp may seem like you're leaving a lot of people you love behind..but dont worry because I promise you that once you get to camp, you will meet the most amazing family that love you just as much.
Please do feel free to write back to me and let me know what things you want to know if you can bring to camp or if you have any questions about the essential things tbat you need to bring! I'd love to hear from you all!
(Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!)
On that note, if you suspect that you are one of us, I highly encourage you to make your way to camp. We here at Camp Half-Blood will be waiting with open arms.
Looking forward to seeing you all at camp!
Safe travels and may the gods guide your path.
Until next time,
Ebony Mae Hance.
A daughter of Zeus.
